How did you decide to offer SpinCycle74?
vOID is the only bar/lounge that we know of to record DJ's CD sets live. We first started as a way to offer our DJ's more money. It is also a way for us to get our art work out into the world. It has been a fun and succesful endeavor.

Where do you find your videos / films?
All over. We buy them in the special interest section of video stores, in museums and design stores, and from video VJ's as a way to offer support. People also sometimes give us a copy of their work.We are video collectors. We hope to begin creating our own videos soon, and perhaps to find others on the web.

How do I have a screening at vOID?:
vOID is available Thursday, Friday, Saturday 8PM - 10PM for screenings. Usually there is $100 deposit to reserve the date and a $300 bar guaranty. Your film or video must be duped onto VHS or Super VHS. BETA or DV can be plugged into our system, you must supply the deck and cables. Call (212)941-6492 for specific information.

How did you decide to start vOID?
It was an alternative to a 9 to 5 graphic design job. It started out as a fun project, and almost more of an art project than a bar, but it's been worth the hard work to mix it up with a lot of interesting people over the years.

How do I get a job at vOID?
You're hired! Actually, you never know. It's all about timing. vOID is a very laid back working environment. At the same time, it can get very busy. Just stop by, intoduce yourself, leave a telephone number, and we'll see what vOID's needs are. Thanks.

How did you decide to offer Digital Video and Final Cut Pro Workshops at vOID?
vOID is among the first, if not the first of the multimedia lounges in New York. DV and film makers have been screening their projects here since we first opened. More recently, DV makers are editing their projects on Final Cut Pro. One of the partners at vOID, Brian, spent twenty years in the film industry as a camera crane technician. Both Brian and Allison enjoy maknig their own DV projects, so it was a natural progression to offer the workshops. They have been very popular. We are currently trying to hand the reins over to another person, as we need more time for our projects. It's a great opportunity.

Who takes the DV Workshops?
Anyone and everyone. People 23 to 63, male and female. Anyone who is interested in documentary, fiction, slideshows, and storytelling. It is a gathering of likeminded people.
